I think because the newer version use the USB2 compatibility to work and the SUMMER edition dont use this feature.

Hmmm .... Actually I use USB programmer ( with SUMMER hex ) with DELL Laptop Inspiron 6400 Duo Core ... bought in early 2006.... I thinks the USB port in my laptop is upto date. Maybe somebody can crack winpic800 v3.60 to work with USB Summer edition .... ... who knows ?

Or maybe we can create one forum ... just to develop software ( winpic800 alike ) for PIC & AVR programmer ... and it will be open source ( I mean on windows base) ... so that anybody can study the codes & change it upto their requirement.
Maybe somebody can write it using VB or C or what ever language.
Maybe somebody has better idea ?

Here you are ... INFO : For the hex code ... there 2 hex codes (both proven working ... at least for me ) .... one is v3.54 & and other one v3.55 . For the schematic & pcb ... using eagle 4.16r1. Inside schematic (or PCB) there 2 ICSP ... I put 2 ICSP for future plan as maybe I will cut it into 2 part ie programmer & socket .... maybe also for extension for other socket ie 18pin for 16F84A. There is jumper for supply power (VDD) for program PIC ... one is from USB power +5V or maybe connect to external +5V battery/power socket for extra ampere. Set jumper to USB +5V is just working fine for me. I just put in 28pin & 40pin socket for program PIC ... succesful program 18F2550, 18F4550, 16F877, 16F877A ... other not test as I dont have. For Winpic800, this circuit ( & hex ) only working with Winpic800 v3.55b & v3.55g ( both tested ok with me ) .... I just attached v3.55g. For driver ... searc in winpic800/GTP_USB/Driver GTP_USB/ Note: for Transistor = BC547 & Crystal 12Mhz . This circuit PROVEN WORKING with laptop DELL Inspiron 6400 Duo Core . So if you build it, could you please report back here on (as some hardware(PC) not compatible as stated by some forums): 1. Type of PIC you succesfull program with it ? 2. PC type (CPU , Motherboard & OS (xp sp2 etc)) 3. Laptop / Deskstop. 4. Also any problem encounter I ask your RESPONSE BACK just for benefit all of us .... ... Also PLEASE refer to : 1. http://ali3nworld.blogspot.com/ 2. http://www.hobbypic.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=35

matelda ... Mine are same as in the blog .... except mine has extra ICSP, build with socket 28pin & 40 pin for PIC programming & external +5V for PIC programming socket .... actually the basic prinsip are same. Mine are tested working ok (function 100%) !!! ... or maybe my explanation is not clear enough .... sorry for my bad english my hex code v3.54 is from this blog ( & also winpic800 v3.55b ) ..... hex code v3.55 are from some forums but I forgot the forum from but both hex work ok (100% function).... hope my explanation clear enough to you.... So it up to you to build or not ...

Hey mates.. I built the programmer based on the hobbypic por J1M model.... but I add a ZIF socket design based on GTP USB PLUS, so I tested the programmer with this models of pic.. PIC12F675 PIC12F629 PIC16F627 PIC16F628A PIC16F819 PIC16F871 PIC16F876A PIC16F877A PIC18F2550 PIC18F452 PIC18F4620 PIC18F4550.. The programmer works very very good, almost like PLUS version, but I boght a PLUS version to use it for PIC`s and AVR, because I like AVR more than PIC If you want the final design including the ZIF socket, just send me an PM and I will send you every monday... Best Regards... Olotill

Any idea how you add new chip to Winpic800. I have been constantly telling or requesting them to add 16F72 chip , but absolutely no reply.
Please help.

Njam, What is the other GTP-USB did'nt work to you ? Is it GTP-USB Summer 2005 .... or GTP-USB Plus (latest by the author ) ? One more thing, which version of winpic800 do you use and what is actually 'No works' (happen) ? Mizk.

Njam ...
Oooo ... thanks for info.
BTW, I been email by somebody asking help about GTP-USB Lite ( or maybe GTP-USB summer 2005 .... but the schematic is base as included in winpic800 v3.55g ). He made it base on the schematic but fail.
To make story short, I give my working schematic, pcb & firmware for him to built it (mine are base on hobbypic with some modification to put 28pin & 40pin socket ) .... he built it and succesfull using it at his desktop but not work with his acer laptop (I dont know what type of the chipset in his laptop). The problem is the programmer cannot finish program PIC by connect it to the ACER laptop.
After a few days later, he email me and said he replace the transistors (in my schematic ... there are 2 transistor BC547) with ULN2003 ... and he sent the picture of final programmer .... that all the story ... I think he success (although I send email to get confirmation on this programmer status but no reply).
As for now I queit busy to finish my project ... maybe I'll try when I'm not so busy. If you have time & would you want to try it ? and post back the result here.

Correction !!! . That guy also cannot use this programmer with his laptop ( ACER brand but dont what is the chipset inside it). He also use it (with his ACER laptop) via PMCIA Usb adapter.
