What is the difference between 16f877lcdv5.txt and pasan.hex? As it seems pasan.hex has some tables added.

For MP3 player I think it is quite difficult as it needs a decoder and adc converter+filters. The cost and effort just does not justify it. Buy any mp3 player at the size of a finger, with LCD (maybe color too), video player, Flash stick, WMA format (IMHO superior than MP3) player including Lithium battery and charger with less that 30-50 euros or dollars!

Once I had that dream too...

Have you seen the MP3 decoder chip vs1011?
It is cheap, and the audio DAC also included.

It is available in SOIC-28, and it has a simple SPI interface.
